Short Sleeve Base Layer w/ Drynamo™

I’ve been reading about Megmeister for a few months now and waiting for them to appear as being available to buy from the UK. Finally, I ordered and received the black Short Sleeve Drynamo about 6 days later.

The photos on the website don’t really do this base layer justice. The exceptionally clever thing about this tee is it’s been knitted in a single piece, no seams at all. The edges have somehow been finished like a kind of laser cut - incredibly sharp and neat. Overall finish is first rate.

The fit is great; long body and sleeves that don’t protrude under any of my tops. Well judged. The material is great and seems very functional. I’ve done a couple of cooler rides (10-12 degrees), some pretty warm ones too, (25 degrees). Somehow this layer seems to achieve better than anything else I’ve tried the trick of maintaining a near perfect temperature whatever else is going on.

Finally, the biggest reason I wanted to try these Megmeister Drynamos is these are almost uniquely ecologically made. The proportion here seems to contain a far higher content of more easily recycled materials available in any other base layers that I know of this side of a Merino. The cycling industry’s dirty secret is that almost everything is usually made of Polyester. That can spend a few hundred years in landfills partially breaking down. Not good.

Megmeister seem to have started to crack the search for the Holy Grail . It’ll be fascinating to see where they can go from here.
